When You Look Me In The Eyes

This past Saturday, I got to join in a REALLY fun event! I joined up with people from Seattle's EMERALD CITY IMPROV to participate in a fake Jonas Brother sighting that we staged at Northgate Mall near my house!

As a subscriber to ECI's Facebook page, I got this message:

Announcing Emerald City Improv's next event!

On May 22nd, we're going to be staging a fake sighting of Nick Jonas, the infamous idol of preteen girls. Jonas, sighted while shopping, will quickly be surrounded by camera wielding paparazzi and adoring fans, before he is escorted to his black SUV by his security guards. If we're lucky, he might pause to sign a few autographs. And if we're very lucky, everyone in the immediate vicinity is going to be totally convinced they're in the presence of a real live Jonas Brother. They'll never know that this Jonas Brother is really our very own lookalike. Whatever happens, like always, it's sure to be a lot of fun! See you there!

It was soooo fun making people actually believe one of the Jonas Brothers was there! Out of the crowd of teens (and yes even excited moms) surrounding the fake celeb, I only came across one naysayer. Her response:

That's not a Jonas. That's some random white guy. Psh.

And then she walked away disappointed. But it was still so fun to watch the girls go crazy about getting pics and autographs from the "Extra Bonus Jonas."

We even got some buzz about it in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer!

Here are my pics and a video from the event:

Don't You (Forget About Me)

I'm back in blogtopia folks!!

This past week has been pretty "go—go—go" and I'm finally at a point where I can really unwind. :) I was able to meet our press deadlines for our two latest journals, which is a pretty big deal for me because I seriously had about 3 days to make one of them press-ready and it was kind of hectic. But I love to test my limits and push myself, and now I feel pretty accomplished. Tomorrow should prove to be a slower day, though, and that's also a really good thing! :)

In an attempt to unwind from today's adrenaline rush, I've been watching funny videos on YouTube :D I think I hit the jackpot when I found a collection of AMC commercials advertising Forrest Gump, in which they created movie trailers for it in different genres. They are still making me laugh!

In other news, I'm going to be home in one week! I still have so much to do. I told a friend of mine that I was already shopping for gifts to take home to my family and she thought it was silly that I would start planning for my trip 2 weeks out. But here's the thing, I'm a procrastinator when it comes to that sort of stuff. Seriously. Like, I generally don't even pack 'til the night before and even then, I'm really slow about it and I get distracted. So, come 1:30 a.m. the day OF my red-eye flight, I'd normally be saying to myself,

"Crap! I forgot to get that _______ for _________! Great.
Now they'll be the only one I didn't get a gift for. How awkward."

Trust me, it happens more often than you think. So I like to plan things out so that I don't leave anyone out. That's like, the worst feeling in the world to me.

Tomorrow I get off of work early and I'm going to get the rest of my family gifts, that way they're all in my room, ready to be packed! Next week will be another busy week, since I only have 3 days to get things ready for a big mail-out after I get back from my trip. Plus, I have a lot of stuff going on in the evenings as well.

PS: I can't wait to go to the beach!!!!!!!!! :D

Almost Paradise

Yesterday Kayliegh and I went to Islander Middle School on Mercer Island to see the junior high kids their do a musical production of FOOTLOOSE. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, except that I was counting on the "angry dance" to be in there—you know, the dance that Kevin Bacon does in the barn. Anyway, they didn't do it, which was kind of sad. Another thing that caught me off guard was that instead of saying the ever classic "JUMP BACK!" that Kevin Bacon says in the movie, the kid playing Ren McCormack would say, "GET OUTTA HERE!" Kinda wished he'd said "jump back" instead, but oh well, whaddayado? My favorite was the kid that played Willard. He was hilarious and he played the piano in one of the songs and did a great job. I felt like his performance alone was worthy of the ten bones i paid to see the show. Although, by the end I was wishing I'd dropped a 20 spot in an effort to help them raise money to improve the terrible PA system they had the music blasting through. There were also some "guest celebrities" there . . . okay so maybe it was just middle schoolers that had uncanny resemblances to other grown up actors. ;) I swear one of the girls looked like Nasim Pedrad from SNL. A mini-me version of Kay Panabaker was also there, along with a mini-me version of Michelle Trachtenburg. ;) It was awesome! All the students did a great job!

Naturally I'm a sucker for musicals, and since Footloose is one of my favorite movies, I had a really fun time watching the middle schoolers sing and dance and re-enact their version of Footloose. It reminded me of the times I got to spend doing plays and musicals as a kid. It was also really sweet to watch them honor their teachers and the crew that helped out with the production.

Anyway, here are 2 pictures and some videos from the evening:

Opening number: Footloose

(footloose)

(hurts so good)

(holding out for a hero)

(ren fights for the dance)

Earlier I updated my status saying

The J.High show of Footloose DIDN'T include the 'angry dance' :( So I'm going to blast the song while I cook & do my own in the kitchen

And a lot of people requested that I record it and put it on YouTube. I didn't record me doing it when I was cooking, but I DID have one of my housemates record me dancing to it around the house. I had her do it around the house because it would have just been boring confined to the kitchen alone, and because we had to do some strategic filming, since some personal information is on our house whiteboard hanging in the kitchen. So I apologize ahead of time if you feel cheated. I hope it makes you laugh anyway:

Funny Face

So I finally got a chance to watch this previous week's episode of Saturday Night Live on Hulu. I gotta admit, I've never really seen Zach Galifianakis in a movie before . . . unless you count the trailer for The Hangover. I'm pretty sure I need to see The Hangover, STAT though. Zach Galifianakis was hilarious!

Here is his opening monologue was PERFECT! His stage presence, charisma, and short joke jabs are totally my style.

Sometimes I think about how great it would be to be a stand-up comedian. But then you have to know that what is funny to a small handful of people, may not necessarily be hilarious to a large audience that will keep you employed. So I tend to stick to small scale comedy. You know, the kind where you tell a joke and your friends give you the pity laugh accompanied by the slight eye roll that says, "Oh no. Here she goes again." ;p

I love making others laugh, but I KNOW that I was not made for stand-up comedy. I just wasn't. I was totally made for small group comedy . . . you know, like 4 or 5 people.

1 to give the courtesy laugh

1 to give the "that was really funny but i don't know why" laugh

1 to laugh at someone else's laugh, thus making it seem they're originally laughing at you

1 to laugh at something they were thinking instead of listening to your bomb of a joke

and 1 to genuinely laugh. Just because they like to laugh.

yep, that's my kinda crowd ;) jk. I really do think I have some good jokes—not ALL, mind you, but a good handful.

But SNL has some of my favorite comedians: Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler (used to be on the show), Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Seth Meyers, and Jason Sudeikis. They just crack me up!

So to show you the humor i love, here is Zach's opening monologue:

and as a Bonus Plus, here is one of my favorite series of sketches. ANY TIME, and I do mean ANY TIME I watch Fred Armisen portray Patterson, i crack up laughing. And I'm known on occasion to respond to random questions with, "New Jersey!!" (no really, just ask Kelley)

Just Like Me

So I followed the lead of my tumblr friend Eric and went to Spokeo.com to "check up on myself." Spokeo is a people search engine. In his post, he noted all the inaccuracies. I decided to screencap my info for laughs as well . . . let's just say I wouldn't use Spokeo for any definitive research. ;)

(click picture below for larger image)

Things to note:
  • First of all I must point out that they don't even have me listed as living in Seattle. They still have me listed as living at GT in Austin. I checked for my name in Seattle first, and then tried Austin cause there was nothing there. I've lived here for 2 years. Sooo funny!
  • I know the slogan for the site is "Not your grandma's phonebook" but they may want to reconsider that. I'm pretty sure my grandma knows I don't live in Austin. Also, she knows what I look like. Slogan fail. ;)
  • Spokeo says I have children. not true. hahahaha!
  • It says there were 1+ people in that household. Considering I stayed in dorms on campus, I think it's safe to say there was DEFINITELY more than 1 person living there! hahaha!
  • None of those pictures are pictures of me :D
  • If i was in the movie THE NET this is what you would find after researching my name.

Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends

Okay, so by far, one of my favorite people to talk to is Kelley Rowe. She's hilarious and she lets me be as ridiculous as I need to be so that I can sift through my mess of a brain that functions at 90 miles a minute.

For instance, today I shared with her an article about the Olympics and how North Korea and South Korea aren't going to march together in the Opening Torch Ceremony. I told her I thought it was dumb, mainly because I'm more of a peacemaker and I think it's silly that they won't march together. Did I mention that Kelley also keeps me grounded in reality when my idealistic whimsy attacks?

Here is our conversation from earlier:

Kelley: ...good grief
well you know
i kind of support that
north korea has chosen to isolate itself in open aggression against the international community. as warm and fuzzy as the olympics are, we shouldnt pretend that the situation isnt what it is. i would think it was silly if it was only an expression of disunity at the olympics. but its not...its representative of a real-life situation. north korea has been testing missiles meant to carry nuclear war heads in the sea of japan. it is open hostility against japan and the rest of the world. their actions cant be without repercussions, even ones that seem petty

Me: i just think it's all silly. all of it.
also, i'm scripting a movie about it where one of the competitors from North Korea falls in love with someone from South Korea. I'm going to make their team colors blue vs. red. And I'm going to nickname one of them Shark and the other Jet. Then I'm going to add in a plot twist about getting a golden pendant to a shop called Middle Earth. The working title is: OLYMPITAR

Kelley: lol
you are so ridiculous
OLYMPITAR...
will there be a boy wizard working in the shop in middle earth?

Me: of COURSE there's a boy wizard!
how do you think Shark and Jet get together in the end??
crap. now i've spoiled the movie for you
sorry

Kelley: ...magical spell?

Me: i'm not telling . . . it would be too big of a spoiler

Kelley: awww

Me: hehehehehehe
. . . let's just say it involves a magic potion called Eywa

Kelley: eeeh
creepee
or is it... treepee
hmm

I think it should be a mandated law that everyone have SOMEONE they can just be ridiculous with :D

What It's Like

Most people don't like meetings. I, on the other hand, look forward to meetings. It's so easy for me to get tunnel-vision and so focused on my work that I forget other people are around me. Meetings give me a chance to see other people and have social interaction . . . that's not on a computer. It's great!

I love gathering with others and sharing thoughts, ideas, setting goals, etc. It's very therapeutic. Every Tuesday, at my work, we have a publications meeting. We talk about what each of us are doing, and we do some brainstorming for the next issue of our main journal, and we share artwork. We also have SO much fun laughing at some really ridiculous things.

For instance, I'm the youngest person on the publications team. My other co-workers are a lot older, and don't always understand all the inner-workings of technology and computers. Well, they do, but have a hard time conveying it in a way that our Tech guy, Hugh, can understand. At our last meeting, we talked about computer issues. Here's how it went:

Co-Worker: When I put in or try to link text in my InDesign it does a weird wrap thing where it won't look right on the screen and it throws everything off.

Hugh: Like when you put it into a new document? Or when you open a certain document?

Co-Worker: No. It happens on a lot of documents in this specific journal. I try clicking on things and nothing works.

Hugh: Wait. So what tools are you using when you place the text?

Co-Worker: I don't know, just the normal stuff.

(Then Hugh looks at me, confused)

Me: When she opens the document, there's a formatting error that's causing the text that she's placing to force a text wrap effect on it and it shifts the layout so she can't work on it. We've tried to adjust the settings but they all seem normal and I don't know if it's isolated just to that document or not, because none of the settings I adjust are making the problem go away.

Hugh: Oh. Okay.

Co-Worker: Yeah, what she said. Amanda's my translator.

We then all BURST OUT laughing!! It's not that I'm a translator, things just get lost in communication. Then we went around and my co-worker in charge of the meeting asks us to go around the circle and share some great reports on what we're doing.

Co-worker: Alright, K—, you want to share a great report on what you're working on?

K—: (facetiously) No. What if I want to share a terrible report?!?

Co-worker: Oh, okay. Sure, tell us a terrible report. How are things?

K—: Oh you know, pretty sh***y.

At this point, we are all laughing so hard! Like I was seriously bent over laughing!! It was so funny!

Today at our morning meeting, Hugh said that yesterday he was kind of dreading going to another meeting, but our meeting actually made his day better and he had so much fun. He said, "I should know better by now how much fun I'm going to have in these meetings."

I agree! :D

Mi Vida Loca

I'm totally going to see this movie!
You know why? I'll tell you why:

1. I TOTALLY love America Ferrera—she's one of my fave actresses

2. It involves a crazy mexican family—like mine!

3. It's funny—and i like funny movies

4. El Vato dice bye bye—give it up for Spanglish!!

5. I realize that whoever I choose to marry, a little bit of those shenanigans may ensue—I'll take notes during the movie on how to cut the damage down. ;)

Laughing With

I've been noticing as of late, my different laughs. I have a different laugh for so many things. I USED to laugh like The Count from Sesame Street—you know, that "One rubber ducky, Ha! Two rubber duckies, HA HA!" It was weird. I've since outgrown it.

But I am quite the laughing anomaly. When I laugh, I really get into it. Sometimes it's really hard to stop. I'm like a giant tickle me Amanda—it's ridiculous. I remember when my old home church used to have pews instead of chairs, and I would be sitting in the service and the pastor would say something humorous. A lot of times, it was only humorous to me, because of the WAY he would say something or because something he said triggered another memory of something funny. I really have a hard time focusing during teachings as it is, so my mind always wandered. This would only be a minor problem if I didn't feel the need to add commentary along with my giggles, which only leads to more giggles. So then like, the whole pew would be shaking cause of my laughing. My friend Don would always let me know. ;) Gosh I was SUCH a distraction. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20, eh?

Anyway . . . all of that to say:

I have an issue with typing or saying LOL. I always say ha ha ha ha ha, and I type it out for as long as I'm actually laughing. I don't know why, I just get hung up with saying LOL. I don't mind when others do it, I just can't bring myself to do it.

I wonder if there's a support group for this . . .

Pablo Picasso

I got my pictures back from the photo lab!

They're definitely interesting ;)

In all fairness, it is my FIRST roll. A lot of them didn't come out so hot because I still haven't mastered the art of winding the film properly. The great news is that I just put in my 2nd roll today and I'm already learning from my mistakes! I figure I can only get better and I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress!

Here are the 5 best pics I have to show . . . the others didn't really come out well. Some of them seriously left me wondering—what was I trying to take a picture of?!?

I hope you like them!

Girl Can't Help It

Once upon a time there was a trickster named Amanda. Most of her friends knew how much of a ruthless schemer she was. One day, her friend Kellie left her Facebook logged on while she went to run an errand. Now, Amanda, being the schemer she is, decided it was a prime opportunity to change Kellie's personal information on her account—you know, little things . . . like her relationship status and her birthdate.

The funny thing is that the next day, when Kellie checked her Facebook, she was flooded with Happy Birthday wishes. She frustratedly changed her information back and cursed Amanda for having changed the information. Amanda was very proud of herself, but in true trickster fashion, was not satisfied. She proceeded to clue everyone in on a great joke that everyone should wish Kellie a Happy Birthday EVERY DAY! Most everyone who knew, participated as they remembered, taking random moments each day to flood her with Birthday wishes—even on missions trips and travel trips!

Fast forward 2 years and the fun still rolls on! Amanda tries really hard to remember as often as possible to continue to remind Kellie that birthdays should be very happy, especially hers. The thing that's REALLY funny is that Kellie still reacts to it the same way, thus feeding the sneaky little trickster flame burning inside of Amanda. In fact, Kellie once claimed that she wasn't going to give it any attention—this ended in a 50+ back and forth comment thread on a Facebook photo. The fun just never ends!

Here is some recent goodness:

But the best one EVER is this one:

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a huge, proud grin spread across my face from ear to ear ;)

PS: If you are a friend of Kellie's on Facebook, you should definitely wish her a Happy Birthday today . . . and the next day . . . and the next day . . . mwahahahahaha ;D

She Paints Me Blue

LOOK! I 'Avatarized' myself!

This morning in Cafe Ladro, all the baristas were talking about Avatar. For the record, I haven't seen it. I've heard & read mixed reviews. I will probably see it this weekend, though, just to form my own opinion. But hearing them talk about it cracks me up!

Mainly, their conversation was based on how fake Sam Worthington's English accent was (since he's from Australia) and how Michelle Rodriguez should have had all her scenes cut. They then jumped on the subject of LOST and how bad she sucked in LOST. I believe the exact quote was:

What was her name on that show again?

For those who can't remember, it was Ana Lucia, and yeah she wasn't my fave either. But now that they said that about her character in Avatar, the combination of my dislike of her LOST character and their dislike of her Avatar character will most likely make it hard for me to like her scenes in the movie.

In other news, I came across this yesterday when I was reading reviews. :D

It's David Letterman's . . .

Top Ten Things Overheard In Line To See "Avatar"
10."What a coincidence! I couldn't find a woman to go with me either!"
9."If I wear my 3-D glasses over my 2-D glasses, can I see in 5-D?"
8."It's nice that they didn't overhype this thing"
7."Last time I saw blue creatures for three hours, I drank too much Nyquil"
6."It's set in the year 2154 when America finally passes a health care bill"
5."Which one is Chewbacca?"
4."Based on a true story, right?"
3."Hold on -- Tiger's texting me"
2."Chuck Schumer just called the ticket taker a b—"
1."$500 million for a movie -- recession's over!"

Go ahead, you can laugh. ;)

You Wait For Rain

This morning I walked out the door ready to face the elements. What I didn't know was that the elements would be a hard rain, as opposed to the normal weak rain we tend to get here. This wouldn't have been so bad, had I not misplaced my umbrella somewhere.

The good thing, is that I don't mind walking around in the rain. It's quite exhilarating actually. It brings this fresh perspective. It's like things around me are being cleaned by the rain, and every puddle is an opportunity for a splash fest. ;)

And what's more, is that while I was waiting for the bus this morning, Kyler England's YOU WAIT FOR RAIN came on my iPeezy. It's like my little Shuffle knew what I needed ;)

Here's the song for reference:

But it was really inspiring this morning when I heard it after I had just gotten done traipsing through the rain, with my shoes soaking wet. I thought to myself, I always want to chase the storms. (Insert cheeeeeeesiness here)

One of the funner things that happened when I was at home, was walking to the store with my dad. He kept INSISTING that we use the sidewalk, and I kept INSISTING that we walk through the dirt and grass. I don't know if there's a deep down psychological want/need to embody the wildness of Lizzy in Pride & Prejudice (cause that's all I imagine when I walk through dirt and grass and rain and mud) but I'd like to think there is a part of me that enjoys walking off the beaten path. I don't always like doing things the way everyone else does them. Sometimes I do. But more often, I don't. I like to use my imagination and be wild and crazy. I like to be different—not for the sake of damning the man—but just because I do. I have this urge in me to do random things . . . a lot. In fact, I recently saw this featured on another blog and I was like, "I WANT TO DO THAT!!!!"

And I'm confident I will! In the meantime, I'll continue to chase the storms :D

----
PS: If I catch my "death of cold" from being out in the rain today, I give you FULL permission to come back to this post (once I start complaining about having a cold) and commenting: I TOLD YOU SO.

PPS: If i should ACTUALLY catch my DEATH from said cold, I would like to be cremated and given to Guilermo Del Toro as a Christmas present. Also, I'd like for my iTunes collection to be commemorated in the Billboard Hall of Fame. Also, I'd like for everyone to leave me cupcakes, not flowers. ;)

Can't Believe It

Yesterday was my FIRST ever time to ride First Class in an airplane!
No. Joke.

It was pretty much amazing! So, for the trip home, my dad worked a deal for me to ride standby and on both my flight from Austin to Dallas & my flight from Dallas to Seattle, I got to ride First Class. It was crazay!

But don't you know that no day is complete without me doing something completely ridiculous?

It's true.

On my flight from Austin to Seattle, I woke up once because I felt movement. Apparently I fell asleep and was leaning my head on the strange guy next to me. I quickly (and groggily) apologized and leaned my head against the window, so that I wouldn't 'land' on my neighbor's shoulder again. ;)

Since I'd never flown standby, I went up to the counter each time (i had to wait through a series of 4 flights) and told the attendant that I was here for the standby list. I figured they prioritized you based on how quickly you 'checked in.' I was wrong. ha! Apparently, they have their own system. I got to the last one, and out of curiosity, I asked the attendant: "Do I need to check in for standby?" She said: "No. We put you on the list and then you just wait to hear if your name is called. You don't need to check in." Almost immediately, the scene from The Wedding Singer popped into my mind where Adam Sandler tells his ex-fiance:

AGAIN, SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION YESTERDAY!

It was quite humorous. :D

Then, on my flight from Dallas to Seattle, I got into my seat and after we stabilized after take-off, the flight attendant offered me some mixed nuts. First of all, you have NO idea how hard it was for me not to throw in a "that's what she said." So I quietly chuckled and said yes please. I was expecting a bag of peanuts. She brought me a warm dish of mixed nuts. So I picked one up, not knowing it was hot and dropped it on the lap of the guy sitting next to me. Embarrassing.

This guy sitting next to me just deserves like, a free ride on another flight where he doesn't have to sit next to anyone. Seriously. I was THAT girl.

I was really excited that the flight attendant kept refilling the snacks and the drinks—the only thing better than my standard in-flight Orange Juice with ice is FREE REFILLS of my standard in-flight Orange Juice with ice!!! :D But on about my 3rd refill, I started chewing the ice and there was this one chunk of 3 cubes melded together, so I decided to try to hold one of the cubes while I bit off one of the others . . . i think you know where this is going . . . I bit off the one and one of the others fell to the ground and the other shot off to the side and pelted the guy next to me on his arm. That ice cube then fell and worked its way to the fabric of his seat. I apologized frantically and he was just like, "It's okay." as he wiped his hands of the splashed orange juice tinged ice cube.

Then, when I decided that I didn't want to chance any more fiascoes, I told the attendant that I was done with the drinks . . . while I had my headphones on. So it was at a louder level.

I think it's safe to say that I'm the most bizarre First Class Passenger ever. But it was WAY fun and totally cool :D I still haven't decided whether or not I'd ever fly Standby again though. We'll see.

The New Year

I had a great time ending the past year with my friends and family :D It was so awesome to get to see most everyone and catch up and share some funny stories and memories. It was also really good to get to see my brother and sister. We've never been super duper close, but we love each other so much and when we get together, it's nothing but laughs!

I'm looking forward to a lot of great things this upcoming year, but mostly, I'm looking forward to my High School Reunion. It's been 10 years since I graduated from McCallum High School. Crazy business! What's really interesting is that since I've been out of High School, the people I talk to the least is the ones I went to Middle and High School with. I can't explain why . . . i guess distance really does make a difference. I mean, after High School, I kinda walked away from it all and grew up a bit. Don't get me wrong- i TOTALLY don't feel like I've been out of High School for 10 years . . . I mean, I still feel like I'm 20. I feel so young and free. What's funny to me is that the thought of going to my High School Reunion is like this big crazy event where I want to know ridiculous things- like, who in my High School is a fan of Twilight and who still remembers Ms. Nauert and how out of her mind she was?

As I thought about this reunion, the one thing that stood out the most was that I spent 4 years of my life trying to figure out where exactly I fit in at my school and NOW, I am COMPLETELY comfortable knowing that I don't fit in and I don't HAVE to. I am me. I'm perfectly me and that's okay. I guess it took me the 10 years after High School to get that, but I got it. ;)

I was talking to a friend of mine from High School while I was home on break and apparently, our Valedictorian died (?!? who knew ?!?) and no one is really taking the reigns on planning anything currently. And apparently, little groups have already had their own little reunions? Like all the latinos got together and had a small reunion . . . and where was my invite for that? Who knows. And all the white kids got together and had a small reunion . . . and where was my invite for that? jk. But seriously. I guess if no one does anything for our High School, I'll try to plan a little somethin' something for my circle of friends. It'll be lame cause I won't get to see where all my other classmates have ended up thus far, but really . . . whaddayado?

Joy To The World

Okay so if you haven't been following me on twitter (ps: all my 'tweets' are on the right-hand side bar . . . over there ------->) then you know that every day since December 1st I've been sharing one random Christmas fact about myself. Well, since I needed to 1. get back into the blogging habit and 2. embed a video for this fact, I decided to carry it on over into Blogville. :D

So here it is: Amo's Christmas Fact #20: I made up a Christmas Rap once.

Okay, so really it's just a funny beat. But what happened was, I was carrying around this ring sizer thing one day and started shaking it and I thought, "Man, this sounds like sleigh bells!" So I figured I would capitalize on that and use it to aide me in making a 'phat rap beat' and adding in my own HO HO HO/record scratch ;)

It's 100% real and 150% ridiculous—just the way I like it! :D

PS: 3 more days till I leave for Austin! crayyyyyzaaaayyyy! :D

SuperStar

Okay so if you didn't get to watch this past Saturday's SNL, you really missed out :) (at least when it comes to SN—hahahaha) She was HILARIOUS!

My favorite part by far was her monologue song. It was brilliant!

I gotta admit, I didn't really know what to expect. I mean, I'm not a full blown "T.Swizzle" fan, but I do have some of her songs on my iTunes and I like them. I do. But when it comes to doing stand-up comedy, that stuff is HARD. I mean, to be funny to your friends is one thing. To be funny—genuinely funny—to a nationwide audience is a TOTALLY different thing, but Taylor Swift OWNED on SNL. If you get a chance, go to hulu.com and watch the collection. Though I must admit, the only one I didn't like was the jail cell one. It was silly and the fact that they've done it before just kinda made it the most blah part for me. But all the others were great! :D

My runner up had to be the Twilight parody, FIRELIGHT—soooo funny!!

Oh okay, my third place goes to the Carter & Sons BBQ commercial ;)

Tripping Wire

Have you ever been to Chuck E. Cheese?

If you have, what do you remember?

Here's what I remember. I remember going to Chuck E. Cheese and going up front to the stage and my brother and other guy cousins going up to the female robotic character that dances around on the stage and looking up her skirt. No. Lie. Creeps. ;)

I also remember that I never really enjoyed their pizza. And that says a lot. Cause PIZZA is my weakness. And you know, they say that in your weakness, God is strong. And I gotta testify. In my pizza, God is strong! I love pizza. :D

I ate pizza today for lunch. I went to Pagliacci's pizza and ordered my pizza, got my pizza and stood in line to pay. Next to me was this chick who looked like she stepped right out of Sailor Moon. No. Lie. So naturally, I'm thinking . . . day before Halloween, office party, dress up, fun costume. I was a HUGE fan of Sailor Moon when I was a kid. So I did the only rational thing in my brain at the moment and I complimented her.

It went like this:

Me: I LOVE your costume! I was always a fan of Sailor Moon. You really rock the outfit. (all said with a goofy grin only a 6 year old could have)
Her: (looking slightly offended) Um. Thanks, but it's not a costume.
ME: (in an awkward attempt to recover) oh. sorry.

Luckily we were both paying at the time so it was a short conversation, after which I made a bee line for the door.

Okay. Let's get real. I've had awkward moments before. I mean, just last night some chick in a car next to me saw me sniffing my new coffee grounds from Cupcake Royale. I know I'm awkward and crazy stuff happens to me all the time. I get it.

But the look on her face seriously made me feel like I'd just run over her cat or something.

K.Rowe offered me solace. But a word to the wise, unless it's Halloween night, just let it go. just. let. it. go.

Have I Told You Lately?

Man, it's been a long time since my last post. This whole holiday schedule work time configuration has left me with less time to do blog stuff, but I do want to keep this up, so I'm gonna work on scheduling some fun posts this weekend :D Some may be longer than others, so just bear with me. :D

For today, I was just thinking how I wanted to share some random things with you . . . you know, as if I don't do that ALL THE TIME. ;)

So here we go:

1. I've been listening to Christmas songs already! (I know, I know, shame. heap the shame) Most importantly, I've been listening to N*Sync's MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS. This song always reminds me of bringing hot chocolate over to the MC guys house as they decorated their house/s for Christmas. They would decorate it like so, clark griswold style:

Rich Wolter was the mastermind behind it all—He's my christmas lights hero ;) But anyway, they would decorate the house and then put a boombox by the window and would be BLASTING Christmas music into the front yard and anyone else within a 5 mile radius. Strangers would seriously stop by and take pics in front of the house. It was all a part of keeping Austin weird. ;) But part of that mix was this hippy hoppy song that i STILL get stuck in my head. But it's okay cause it always brings back the fun memories :D

2. I'm going to be a LADYBUG for Halloween! Now when I first thought of being a ladybug, all that came to mind was the ladybug man Francis from A Bug's Life. You know, this guy . . .

But lest you be deceived, I will NOT be that kind of ladybug. I will also not be dressing up as a "SEXY" Ladybug. Though I have contemplated making a sign that says "SEXY" around my neck just so i can tell people i'm a sexy ladybug. It could work. hmmm. nah. you're right. it wouldn't. Instead, I shall be a beautiful mexican ladybug and I MAY even bust out with a rousing rendition of LA CUCARACHA just to remain true to my roots without the grossness of actually dressing up as a cockroach.

3. Lately I've been debating between which song is sadder . . .

ENOUGH FOR NOW by The Fray, which details the strained relationship he had with his grandfather.

or

CAVES by Jack's Mannequin, which gives an account of going through treatment for leukemia during Andrew McMahon's battle with cancer.

They're both sad. But both beautiful songs. There's something so mesmerizing to me when you can take sad, tragic, harsh realities and make them beautiful expressions in art.

Speaking of Andrew McMahon (and let's get real, I could speak about him for a LOOOOONNNG TIME!) I've listened to ONLY ASHES by his original band, Something Corporate on repeat for the past hour. It's so good that I had the rock fist pumping while sitting at my desk. that's good. just sayin' :D

3. Kelley Rowe will be here in Seattle with me in a month! Wheeeee!!! She's amazing and I'm so glad she's going to be here to enjoy the city sights and sounds with me! Copious amounts of coffee and live music will ensue. Rest assured my friends, it's true. We're going to go see Parachute play at the WaMu Theater with Kelly and then we're going to go see Justin Nozuka play live with Sam Bradley at Neumos a couple days before she heads back to Austin! And we'll be sure to catch some live performances at Easy Street Records as well :D

Speaking of Parachute . . . Here's one of their new promo pics taken by Jeremy Cowart.

For those who aren't familiar with the band, that's (from left to right)
Kit French, Nate McFarland, Will Anderson, Johnny Stubblefield, and Alex Hargrave

it's STUNNING! Will is gorgeous, and not just cause he's good looking, but his voice, his talent, the glimpses of his personality you see in their Video Fridays and interviews, makes me wish I'd have gone to UVA four years ago to major in music like he did. ;)

I love it!

4. I ABSOLUTELY love fall in Seattle! It's so colorful and so accomodating to my personality. :D You know, sweet, breezy, and the perfect excuse for hot chocolate or coffee :D Just sayin'. I'm going to another pumpkin patch this Saturday with my small group, then I'm going to stop by another friend's house who has a holiday tradition of making homemade doughnuts, and then I'm going out with an ex-co-worker for dinner before she moves back to Reno where she's from. It'll be a busy, but sweet weekend and i can't wait to carve my new pumpkin on Sunday. One of our housemates is moving out :( and we're throwing her a going away party! The mexican food, chocolate, board games, and karaoke will be flowing people!

5. There's no place like home for the holidays! Thus, come hell or high-water, I will be coming home for Christmas! If you're in the ATX, mark your calendars now! I'll be home from December 24th (I fly in the 23rd so I'll probably get settled in that night) through the 1st of January (I fly out the 2nd) and then when I get here, hopefully my new friend, who i could've almost met at the Parachute/The Script concert will be in Seattle and we'll hang out before she & her friend leave back to Canada on the 3rd. One of the vacation days will be devoted JUST to shopping for gifts (probably the 24th) so if anyone wants to join me, please do! I realize I won't get to see everyone, but stay tuned to my twitter (on the right hand side of the blog) to keep up with where I'm at and give me a holla and we can join up quickly or you can join me for lunch, dinner, coffee, etc. :D it's gonna be so fun, especially since I probably won't be home again till next summer!

That's all for now! Stay tuned for more :D

Oh, and if you missed the video link from my tweet yesteday on how I get pumped up at home on Glee nights, here it is for your enjoyment!
